CNN —Britain’s Prince and Princess of Wales have released a new photo of Prince Louis to mark his sixth birthday on Tuesday, the first image to be released by the family since a photo-editing scandal erupted last month. A royal source said the Waleses were grateful for the birthday messages they have received for Louis and the photo was taken by Kate, 42, in the last few days in Windsor. “This is in an unprecedented time for the Wales family as the princess continues her recovery,” the source said. The Waleses have released a celebratory photo of Louis each year to mark his birthday. Kensington Palace had released an official family photo, said to have been taken by Prince William, which was later found to have been tampered with.

London CNN —The Prince and Princess of Wales expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support they have received from the public after Catherine, Princess of Wales, announced she has cancer. “The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message. The princess, known as Kate, described her diagnosis as a “huge shock” in a video statement released on social media. The news comes two months after she stepped away from public life following what Kensington Palace said at the time was surgery for a non-cancerous abdominal condition. Kensington Palace is not expected to reveal any further medical details such as the type of cancer or what stage it is.

The Prince of Wales, 41, had been expected to attend the remembrance event at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. After a military coup in 1967, Constantine and his family fled to Rome, and the military regime appointed a regent to take his place. The King has received more than 7,000 letters and cards from across the world since his diagnosis earlier this month, the palace revealed. The British monarch also said the messages had “reduced me to tears most of the time.”Buckingham Palace announced on February 6 that the 75-year-old British King had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer and would be stepping back from public-facing duties while he undergoes treatment. Though the King has stopped carrying out public engagements while he undergoes his cancer treatment, he is continuing with his duties as head of state. Alongside the statement of appreciation, Buckingham Palace on Friday also shared some of the images and videos the king has received.
